i drive an Audi A3 2.0 FSI,while i was driving,all the gears lit up and the car was powerless and i stopped it and parked by the side of the road,i noticed a a gear oil dropping. after about 5-10 minutes,i started the car and and all the gears went to normal and till today i do not see where the leak was from of that gear oil.

so i want to know what causes all the gears to lite up and that dropping of gear oil.

This is a great question for the A3 forum as the A3 has a different layout, transmission and AWD system from the A8/S8. As for the drip it's probably from something near where you saw the drip, like not from the rear diff if it's coming from somewhere closer to the transaxle.
