Time to Market is the key driver for the automotive industry
Everyone's trying to collapse this through the use of advanced CAD/CAM/CAE and PLM technologies and global engineering collaboration. 24 months is a good benchmark these days, but many manufacturers are trying to reduce it to 18 months. Each incremental month is worth $$ Millions and Millions. Much is at stake in the race for new designs, as vehicle purchases are often based on emotional decisions. At least that's what Ford, GM, DCX, Nissan and all their affiliates tell us.
