Default axle has to come out, control arms stay....

I have to be honest, I'm not looking for more of these to do

Happy to help with pics and advise but keep in mind the pre facelift bearings are different.

Default That dude was me!

I'd check the coil pack leads if I were you at the towards the back of the engine. But just so that you know my A8 isn't a V8 its a V6 30v. It wears the coil pack on the front of the engine and then has ignition leads leading to each of the cylinders. If you've read that post of TSN then you'll know how many different people diagnosed different causes, in the end my dad was right; the vibration almost feels like the gearbox and everything else wants to ripp it self away from the space frame. Amazing how much trouble that one lead caused. Did you not get Fault codes relating to misfires on specific cylinders? if so might be interesting to see if you swapped them round and pull the codes again and see if another cylinder misfires. Also look at the blast pattern if any on the end of your coil pack leads you could clearly see that the spark was arcing to ground on my car. Sorry in a rush so post quality may be crap.
