My advice to you: GO TO TOZO .. Make your appointment BEFORE your A8 is too sick to drive! Believe me, I would have driven the 14 hours to Chicago if I thought the car would make it. I had months of warning, and just refused to face reality: the transmission WILL die. And then it's too late for the long road trip to Chicago.

The dyno-tested rebuilt unit was $4100 direct from a ZF distributor, 20 miles from me. Thank God for free shipping. 12 months, unlimited miles warranty, with $40/hr labor rebates if something goes wrong.

Install labor? Im not exactly sure, since I had some other things done while the car was there, like new calipers and rotors on the rear and a new multi-function hi-beams switch assembly plus new cam access/sensor seals.

Grand Total? Over $8K plus 800 for the month of rental car.

I got back into the car .. noticed it needs detailing .. and .. it was all worth it. I'd do it again.
