Default It's for the auto boxes

You put a second set of fuel injectors on, and have another ECU to run the engine on LP, you can switch back and forth between the two.

Tyresmoke.net has a few viewers that use the system on their D2.

Default That was the pictures I was thinking of

And you'll get a lot less power also.

For the price of the kit and installation, I don't think you'd ever make it back on fuel costs.

Even if fuel stays 1/4 higher than it was a year ago, the total cost to operate your car is going to skyrocket or anything.

If you want to save gas, get a three cylinder Geo Metro or something like that, but where's the fun in that?

Default The price of propane (or diesel fuel) parallels gasoline pricing.

These are all 20-year futures contracts price histories. Since energy is energy, the curves have a lot in common. I'm not sure what you'd accomplish except spend a bunch of money on a conversion.

Gasoline Price

Heating Oil Price (similar to diesel)

Natural Gas Price (similar to propane)

Default The TDI in the Touareg makes tremendous torque.

An A8 with that drivetrain would FLY out of the hole. Interestingly, all Touaregs (V6, 4.2 V8 and V10-TDI) were rated the same for towing capacity (7700 lbs.). Limited by the stength of the ZF/drivetrain. Hummn, sound familiar?

Default Re: If you did do it... you would get to say " I drive a propane car with propane accessories..."

You'd be the real "King of the Hill"! I wonder what the range is on 120L of propane? I guess that is around 31 gallons of propane, and if you get 20mpg, that's still lots of distance between fills.

You'd need the address of every propane station in the country to safely make a trip. I like the biodiesel solution-- but I bet it wouuld cost a pretty penny.

Default Re: That was the pictures I was thinking of

As I described somewhere "less power" means in my case something like 0,3sec to 60mph. But this can be adjusted - my friends with same installation brand (in Opel Omega 3.0V6 - that is stronger origin of Caddy Catera), has data from dyno saying that power is even higher than on gasoline (as far as I can switch to gasoline at any moment, even during drive, I'm not so determined to spend 1-2 days on very-very-fine adjusting LPG; but it can obviously be done).

LPG has higher octane than gasoline, but unfotunately it is less "caloric" - that means your consupmtion of LPG will be something like 1,2 - 1,25 times gasoline.

Of course, in Europe there are propably more LPG filling stations.

And back to the pict:

I'm not specialist for LPG conversion, but what I can see, seems not quite good to me:
1) It looks like there is one LPG injector for each of two cylinders at the same time. There should be separate for each, sequentially as for gasoline.
2) Hoses from the injectors are lead into top of the inlet. It shall be placed as close to the original (gasoline) injectors, as possible. At the same time, distance frm the LPG injectors shall be as short as possible and same for all cylinders.

If someone is interested, I can make some pict. of my setup - which is also not perfect, but maybe better.
