~~~ essentially ~~~....But one item I really liked in the '02 and '03 was the automatic's sport transmission mode, unavailable in '01. May not be important to you just thought I'd mention it. I believe they improved the ESP as well in '02 or '03. Again, might not be a big deal for you.

Default I agree, I felt the certification was worth it.
Most dealers will certify the car if you're willing to pay. Three dealers told me it runs them $1200 for the warranty from Audi and 2 hours labor to complete the 300 pt inspection. For me it was worth it, only time will tell but I doubt it'll take much of a problem to go through that $$ amount. Note: $50 deductable on the certified warranty.

sport mode could be enabled full time on an '01 with VAG-COM?

Do you happen to know what the change was to ESP?

Sport Mode would not take on the TCU on my 01 S8....

Default it would need to be burned into the tcu
the tcu went through a major revision for the my2002.

Can you use VAG-COM to turn off the adaptive shift program on your S8? I believe this is possible on the A8.

I haven't found that TCU code for that option yet, but It should be possible.
