By the way, the manual is titled 2004 Audi MMI Manual - Operating Instructions (english 11/03-243.562.691.21. It also says only valid for for A8L owners after 11/03.
Pages 36 thru 79 relate to Radio/CD
Page 43 is the first mention of Satellite station list. You will access from the "Band" list and appears after FM / AM/ Satellite Radio. If you have XM then XM appears as the "choice", if Sirius then Sirus appears as the "choice".
Page 54 - Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service
"In addition to the radio in your vehichle, a tuner module has to be installed in order to receive satellite programs. At the present time , tuners are available from these providers. XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. If you would like to retrofit a tuner, please consult your Audi dealer."
"By operating the BAND control button, you can select Radio Satellite mode(XM or Sirius)page 46. If you have not yet installed a tuner in your vehicle, the BAND function will not display the Satellite option.
"The MEMORY control button functions the same for all bands FM,AM,XM or Sirius>page 45
Note: Only one tuner module can be installed in a vehicle at a time."
The next section goes into setting up the satellite reception signal entering the s/n, etc.
I have a CD question...do you have to go thru the process of "naming"( physically typing-I had to on all six,I loaded ) each CD and song title for it to be display? I thought for sure this thing would be smart enough to display CD album titles and songs without "typing". Maybe newer CD's ( I only have some older ones - I don't by CD's too often )have the ability to be "READ" by MMI.

... as you've mentioned. That includes the album title and song titles, but no artist name. CDs that don't automatically name themselves can be named in the system, although only the Album Title area is available for naming, not song titles. They default to "Track 1," etc.
I'm sort of a CD junkie, but I have been surprised at how few CDs are set up to automatically be named. I don't think that's so much a reflection of the Audi system as it is the CD themselves though... or am I mistaken?

In 1999 CD's & CD players started to show up w/ this technology. They both need it to work. It should have been standard by now. Manually entering info will only display the name you have entered for that CD, not each song. You can thank the production companies for this. I do know all Sony produced CD's come encoded.
