Default speed limiter

Well guys I think I have a weird one. The speed limiter on our cars is supposed to engage at 137 mph (correct me here if I am wrong) and my guess is that it should simply cut the engine. I don't think I have seen any way to bypass that, but it doesn't seem to work in my car and I am concerned. I don't know if the previous owner did a mod of some type or if there is something wrong with the ECU (I would think that is where the speed limiter lives.) I have only tested this twice, once by accident (don't ask) and tonight on purpose. (Service road at airport no traffic)I welcome any thoughts on this.

Default You would probably have to get up to at least 140 MPH or 144 indicated to have it cut in

Your speedo will read probably 5 MPH slow (at least) at that speed.

It doesn't come off the speedo, it comes off real speed via the transmission sensor.

So if I unplug the speed sender from the driver's side front axle, it will disable the speed limiter

Tozo, go hit I-90 towards Elgin and let me know if this works. I'd love to rid myself of the 130MPH speed limiter as I feel that is Big Brother (or big sister) holding me back. I've hit it a few times and it is never pleasant.

never pleasant? It's damned spooky to me. It's not exactly a "soft" limiter.
