This is new. I just got my car back from the body shop (they had to fix the hood they messed up the last time it was in - long story) where they had kept it for a week. I get in and begin to drive home and no speedometer.

Symptoms:
The speedometer does not move at all
Mileage computer does not compute MPG realtime
Trip odometer and main odometer do not tick off miles
Transmission shiftes a little better than it did (may be wishful thinking).
No codes in Vag-Com except brake switch open. However, it does fail under scan all modules and I don't remember it ever doing that before. Address block 03 IIRC even though I can go directly to 03 through the main screen.

So, should I take it back to the shop and tell them they wrecked speedo car when they were rubbing out my hood?

Seriously - any ideas where to begin?

Driving along when the speedo bounced a bit and began to properly register speed. A while later it quit again.

Thoughts? Bad ground or sensor somewhere?
