I am getting some noises sometimes when I am turning the steering wheel. I am 100% sure it is not the suspension,it comes directly from the steering wheel, so I think the steering wheel oil might be low and need a replacement?
Do you guys think the noise is the result of the low steering wheel oil? if it is, can I just buy the steering wheel oil and what kind do you guys recommend and fill it up, or do I have to take it to the dealer and have them change it for me?
thanks.

under the hood, in the driver's side front corner. It's easy to check the level in the plastic reservoir, but if it's low, this requires special fluid you'd need to get from the dealer.
Low power steering fluid would cause strange noises, but the sound would come from the power steering pump on the front of the motor, not from the steering wheel itself. BTW: My steering wheel has just started making squeaking/groaning noises when it retracts after removing the key, and it does sound like it needs a drop or two of oil.

Sounds like a common problem as my 2000 wheel has made some noise when turning and also when retracting.... sounds "dry"
