Default Steering wheel volume controls!!!

Okay, so i really need some help from you really "experienced" a8 owners.

I just got my aftermarket deck installed today in the glove box, using the stock amp and wiring, it sounds really good, and i'm very happy with the deck so far!

Unfortunately, as expected... my steering wheel controls will not work without hooking them up. So i have a pioneer deck, and i also got the Pioneer steering wheel control module that you see here http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dZqqB07SbH2/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=pioneer+steering+wheel&i=1 27SWIPS
<img src="http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/products/2006/127/h127SWiPS-f_dg.jpeg">

This is all good and all, BUT we cant figure out What wires to hook this up to. If you look on the stock deck, it has a wiring diagram of what stock wires are used - i have a feeling that we could just splice into one of these wires, but its not that easy. using an OHM tester, every wire was tested for a feed from the steering wheel, and none of them had ANY feed back!!!

anyone know where i can fine the wire for Vol UP and Vol Down??? It feels horrible without my steering wheel controls

Default I could be wrong, but I don't think that's going to work.

I think there is only two wires going to the wheel. There is a little circuit converting the signals from the buttons (up/down, forward/reverse).

That's why you can't wire it for tiptronic control.

Default Yeah, its a digital signal going to the buttons. Its one wire that goes to a bus.

You can't really even snake any wires through. I would say the only way you could make it work is some how figure out how to adapt the digital signal to the Pioneer controls.

Default When you select your car ( right under the picture) it says this will not work with your vehicle.

Default ya... i saw that.

I actually bought it locally, so I didn't know that when I purchased it, but I figured that there mudt be some way to adapt a signal from the stock system, and that their system wasn't as simple as plug and play.

I am starting to think its not worth the trouble, I don't want to mess up anything from the stock system.

Default You will have to interface within the steering wheel to create an IR output to control it. That..

... is my plan as I have drawn it up. It will work, but it is custom. Since I have not installed my alpine into the car yet, I have not finished the project.

Default It's a digital signal

There is a little PC board in your steering wheel that takes all the signals and converts them to digital and transmits them to the modules they need to talk to via a digital signal.....so only one wire......

I haven't looked at the details of your posted device, but probably won't work easily.
