Has anyone ever attempted to replace the factory Concert Bose system with an aftermarket system (headunit, amps, speakers, etc.)?
At a minimum I'd like to replace the headunit (which is cassette) with an indash CD (that will still control the trunk CD changer).
I called a local dealer but the guy told me they don't make an indash CD version. Is that true?
I have a lot of professional/competition caraudio experience, so don't hold back on the details.
Please help!
Glad to see activity in here again...

I haven't pursued this yet, either, but it is getting tempting. The unit needs a little more oomph (read power). And, I had considered adding a more powerful sub as well. If you make any progress, I'd be interested in hearing...
As far as the head unit. I have an '01, and it has the CD in the head unit as well as the cassette. So, unless I misunderstood your question, I don't know what the guy at the dealer was saying. They come with combination units now that do control the changer. I think the head unit is Matu****a (Panasonic), although it is unmarked...
Good luck.

...only has an indash cassette and truck CD changer. I would really love to replace the headunit w/ a factory CD indash model (if possible).
Otherwise it's a big process to strip out the Bose system and use seperates w/ amplifiers etc. (pricey).
Anyone have *any* input here?
