Pulled the front tires, checked the calipers and all I found is the retaining spring-driver's side-did not stay in position. Why would the light come back on? I thought the only electrical connection is throught the brake pad wire? Any suggestions?

The only electrical connection is thru the brake pad wire, an open connection when the wire wears away trips the brake light.
Since the light was off initially, my first thought is that perhaps one of the connectors at the pad is either dirty or loose. If cleaning the contacts and re-seating the connector doesn't help, there's a broken wire somewhere. Try shorting across the car-side connector and see if the light goes out. Since the pads for my Alcons don't have wear indicators, I run with this plug shorted just to keep the brake warning light off.
BTW: What's your first impression of the Ferodo's compared to the OEM pads? Did you install Ferodo's in the rear also?

Thanks Randy. I checked the wires at the pads and they were fine. I'm going to swing by the stealer this AM and buy a spring and then clean the electrical connection and reseat the connector. Hopefully this will take care of the problem. I can't see any other problem, so even with the light on I'm considering the drive (600 MI r/t).
I thought I ordered Ferodo pads but then I remembered that I ended up with the Pagid b/c the ferodos were not in stock. So far I think they are smooth, well controled, and quiet.
