Now, before you scream, shall we give them a break.

Now I LOVE Audi's, always have, especially new A8.

I, in equal measure, DESPISE BMW drivers and Bangle the Mangler, but let's give them a chance eh? Keep an open mind?

That's what I did when looking at the new 5 Series. Look carefully at the photos, form ALMOST all angles (albeit not all of them), the car is stunning, in a new-age sort of way. it might be hard for Audi peopkle to nderstand, as the flowing, contemporaryy lines of the new A8 are equally beautiful, but in a different way. I feel that the 5 series design is far more successful than the 7, which is just plain ugly. here, boldness meets class and style. Whereas in the 7, boldness met a pile of elephant turd.

And now look at that interior. Absolutely exemplay. Gorgeous. Looks like it should cost far more than it will, (starting at £20,000).

And what about that Jet-fighter style head-up display. A transparent display screen appears on the windscreen. Maybe a gimmick for some, but being honest, I actually would pay £250 for the option. Just to brag.

I really do love it.

Just as at the BMW forums they gave the Audi A8 a chance, and conceded it to be better than the 7 Series, let us be fair and keep an open mind.

I have to say, compared with the CURRENT A6 (which is ageing), the 5 Series is streets ahead.
Despite not having seen the car i the flesh, the driving experience is repored to be class-leading too.

I just see buttons dotted around the cabin...my Volvo V70 T5 is much nicer, that is, until I get my new A8 4.2

detached look...gives it a very buick-like 60's look..yuck.

The exterior has its high points...I think it will look good in person...better than the 7.

I see revolutionary lines, but I still think most people are not 'ready' for this design...it will take time to get used to whereas the older 5 was an instant classic. Maybe in 10 years...

I actaully like the new 7 series better than this one, even though I think that both the new 5 or 7 series are the ugliest bmws ever made. I love the old bmw 7-series and the old 5 series. If you want a buy bmw buy the old 7-series. it is a beautiful car.

I appreciate your courage. I give you full marks for optimism...I own a BMW as well as my A8. But take a close look at the shiny plastic black dash cover. I truly believe that Bangle and Hooydonck, the designers of the new generation of BMWs, have done a huge disservice to that great driving machine. The essence of their problem, it seems to me, is that they patched together a machine that THEY found satisfyingly self-indulgent presumably; not a vehicle that the public might in their wildest dreams sense as having flow of line, symmetry or style. I say let them buy it, I won't get another BMW.
