Stuck Hand Brake

One of the remaining problems on my '99, since I bought it last year, is a seized hand brake. Rather, what I should say is, if I pull the darn thing it will seize again. I had this problem looked at by an experienced Audi mechanic. He said that he has had little luck freeing these things up and that I need a new pair of rear calipers. I don't doubt the man, I simply wish to know if anyone has had any other experience, i.e., any luck freeing them up and, if so, then what did you do.
Finally, if anyone has changed the rear calipers can they tell me if there is anything particularly difficult about it. Does one need to be careful about the wear sensor, or anything like that?
Many thanks,
Michael

I'm posting this for the reference of others. If you order the standard calipers for an A8 from autozone or napa, you will not receive the right calipers. They may work, if you fiddle with them, but they are from and for other Audi models. The exact calipers seem to be available from advance auto parts or murray's discount auto. However, they only available caliper, at the time came without a new clip ($137, plus core charge). However, the best price for the correct caliper is at brakewarehouse.com ($86 + core) and free shipping on orders over $150. You will, however, have to pay shipping to return the core.

http://www.brakewarehouse.com</a
