Super heated windsheild washer fluid install
Well, I have a washer fluid heater that I am trying to install. It is similar to what GM puts in its cars. "HotShot"
I am looking for a way to power it. Get this, it has a 60 amp inline fuse. How the heck am I going to power this thing with out running a huge cable back to the battery. Please tell me there is a place close to the firewall>???
I know it is bad to hook it up to were the alternator is connected but I do not know why. I can not tell you how easy that would make this install. Any tips would be great. I am waiting for a delivery of a new washer pump before I start. Thank you!

There is a positive terminal behind the pass side front tire on the bottom of the frame.

I tackled the install last night. It was so slick and easy with that starter positive cable connection. To start, that plastic box protecting the positive terminal was broken off from the frame mount. When I opened the cover it all fell apart. My call to the dealer will have to wait tell Monday. Bad ice on the roads here in MN. I have yet to buy anything from the dealer. Will they have it and will it be crazy priced? I think I know the answer to that.
Thanks to TozoM8 and all!

You probably need to replace the terminals and the new ones might not fit in the factory plastic cover. I've changed the terminals on my old A8 and then put a 1" ID 4" long heater hose over the whole thing and sealed it with hockey tape.

The dealer is ordering the terminal cover from Germany. No Dealer had them on the shelf. $19.80 plus shipping and tax $27.14
TozoM8. Do you have any photos of your car out there? I keep thinking about your twin turbo S8. What about track numbers or HP stats?

Tell us how it works.
So does this work? Seems like a brilliant idea for those of us who live in areas of the country where a garage is a luxury. I like the Subaru windshield heater filament idea but this sounds like a great way to get rid of the ice. But I also wonder about cracked windshields too? I looked on amazon and you can get me for $30 and it says it heats the water up to 60f. Here in Colorado we are blessed with 300+ days of sunshine so even if we've had a big snow the sun will be out to thaw out the windshield but up there, god, I've heard about how bloody miserable and cold it is. I did recored -15f on my car in the Utah desert last Thursday so it can get cold down there too.
