Default Supercharger Orientation, with vacuum formed airbox mold

Pays to stay in touch with everyone . My college roommate works for a vacuum form plastic mold company. I gave him a drawing and 8 days later he gave me 4 prototype molds for my supercharger airbox . Well folks it fits in the engine bay like a factory Audi part. Needless to say my buddy is thinking about buying an S8-A8, most likely I will need a second test mule and his efforts deserve to be rewarded in free horsepower.

Default How will it get driven? An auxiliary belt or make the existing belt larger?

From your picture, it appears it will have to get driven by something below it.

Very interesting!

Default Don't forget to review the temperature rating of the plastic...

For underhood it should be =/>125C

Default Dude, you rock. If this works, everyone is going to hop on board....let me know

if you need any solid modeling or analysis help.
The airbox can also be rapid prototyped (less expensive b/c no tooling required)

Default Re: auxiliary belt

Off the main crank pulley?..Is there clearance for that? E-machine shop has a nice tutorial on how to design a pulley wheel.

Are you planning an AFPR indexed off manifold pressure. I'm the naysayer who said fueling was going to be a big problem. I so want to be wrong.

What are the specs on that blower?

Good luck!

Default Boost #s

So what Kind of boost are we talking about?
The A8 is such a dog up in CO after having it around sea level. Every time I drive out there, I do something stupid when I try and pull out in front of someone or something, oops only 225hp, not 300!
It would be nice just to have some supercharger normalizing if your at altitude. So even a 1-2lbs of boost would be nice out there.
I haven't been following the list much lately, so forgive me if all of this has been covered.
Any $$$ figures yet?

Britt

without touching the engines guts, 6psi which should equal 21hp per lb of boost

Default so you are talking 126hp increase over stock...WOAH!!! thats crazy! I cant wait for more info!

this is like being told a story as a little kid...every night you get a little bit more...so far this is very impressive. Please keep us posted and ideally keep track of what all parts/mods/etc are necessary to do this. Cost is always important too heheh.
