<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/81409/110_1021.jpg"></center><p>'99 A8 4.2Q, today when first pulled out after startup it surged a few times, did it again once at around 30mph after warmup. When first bought it did it really suttle, thought it was drive by wire sensitivity (dad's PowerStroke does same thing).
Dealer looked at last month, but turns out they just topped fluids off and I didn't catch it. Driving home 1100 miles next week, don't want to get caught halfway. Any advice appreciated or recommendation for non-dealer tranny service.

Dealer saying that it's a gas issue-that the price of 91 octane causes slow movement, and therefore, lower quality due to stagnation. Recommended going to 89 octane...anyone have another angle on it?

but it makes no sense. If stagnate gas is a problem, go to a gas station that you know does high volume.
No refinery in makes a "mid-grade" gas. Stations have mixers that draws equal amounts of each octain level. I've seen some stations with four octain choices. They simply have two mixers.
