Default Survey: Is the D2 the quietest Audi ever?

My S8 running Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions is the quietest car I have ever driven, whether at 10 MPH or 100. It's like a little temple of bliss with the radio off. I've driven other Audis, including D3s and there is a lot more noise.

What do you guys think?

Default Dunno, but methinks me'll just sit here and watch yer sig all day 8-). OK, it is pretty...

...darn quiet, I'll give you that. It ain't no Maybach but it's quiet, sure.

My bro's former W140 Benz was quieter (I always felt like some sorta oil Sultan cruising in that thing), both cars having double-paned glass is a huge key here certainly.

I get more tire noise than anything. Oh, and, induction, butofcourse.

So how exactly do you get your sig to run an avatar vid like that? Waycool...

Default tires have ALOT to do with the noise but i do agree that our D2s are quiet.

not quite as quiet as an LS430 tho. that thing is silent!

Default I kinda like noise. I like to hear my engine (I'm getting exhaust work done).

I feel more in tune with my vehicle.
I hate lights that turn off by themselves, wipers that turn on by themselves, cars that park by themselves, cruise control (never use it even on long trips).
I like driving and the noise of the vehicle is an integral part of driving for me.

I second this. Of the three S8s I've driven in the past three weeks, mine throws off the least amount of tire noise. I'm running Toyo Versados, but don't recall what Jim 03S8 and Mpollan are running. Betwixt the three, I can hear the engine better in mine.

Default Strange, as most of us enjoy the quiet.

Especially on long trips.

Default No way Jose - I need some sound for the experience. Can do w/o wind noise certainly, but...

...give me my //S8 induction note @ WOT all day long thankyouverymuch 8-). Nothing like it.

Could be an A8 v. //S8 ownership experience differentiator - both appeal to different persons looking for different aspects out of their vehicles.
