The only Audi dealership in my city said that the newer styled switchblade remotes for the 99-03 models wouldn't work with my car and I was wondering if anyone knew otherwise and if there are other generic ones out there that could be programmed to work.

The dealer told me the same thing. I bought the remote on ebay. This is what I bought for my 97' FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 3

Thanks for your much appreciated response. I am just learning more about my car but is there a specific code or model # I can use to do a search on Ebay? All the ones I see there are for 99 or newer. Actually, would any of the newer ones work and how did you code it?
