sync'ing driver and passenger A/C temperature, can it be done on a '01 S8?

sync'ing driver and passenger A/C temperature, can it be done on a '01 S8?
It was possible on my '04 S4, but I tried holding the driver side AUTO button for about 5 seconds in the S8 and the temperatures did not sync. Is there another way?

When cruising at 250km/h, I like to minimize any distractions from the road!
Seriously, i'm like 95% of the time alone in my car, and i fiddle with the A/C fairly often, so adjusting the passenger side A/C to match mine is just a pain. Probably why they introduced synching in the later models, assuming it can't be done on this 2001 S8.
Other than that the car is great and i'm slowly learning its ways.
