Default Take a look at this..."new" vs "old' lumbar solenoid

the difference between the "old" and "new" are twofold and related. Pictured side-by-side, it is clear the o-rings are different with the o-ring from the current verion of the controller being much more robust. Not pictured is the plastic armature that houses the o-rings which is also ore robust. The orange solenoid piston caps also pictured are the same. Not pictured are the pistons and the electro-magnet - they are the same and interchangeable. The only difference is in the o-rings and armature.

In my feeble mind, the design change was due to a design flaw otherwise why change it. I would like to source some of the old impotent o-rings and see if the old solenoids can be brought back to life.

Anybody got peops in the solenoid/seal/oring bidness? I got two new ones working perfectly well now so my plea is a labor of helping those that can help me help those with my chit in a state of disassembly.

Default Bench testing can be done by jumping the lumbar MFS at the red/white and brown wire...

if you count left to right *all* of the wires pictured, hot goes to the second wire and ground goes to the fifth wire. There are two red/white pictured and two brown pictured. You want the shorter of each. Just a double explanation and disclaimer that you are on your own here in the evnt you cross things up.

P.S. Yes I will compile this in an Audipages worthy writeup. I am just providing this for the impatient ones in the group.

Default Mark- post the o-ring dimensions and I can mail you some o-rings.

I need the outside diameter and the cross section diameter (thickness of the rubber). I can figure out the rest.

Default Will do Doug - thanks. That said I think a solution is near...

Gabor and I communicated briefly off-forum and I'll be sending him one of the old units for him to analyze and hopefully diagnose. Me diagnosing on my dining room floor or Gabor in his shop? I know who I'd rather have.

I'll be packaging it up this weekend Gabor.
