I'm using this extremely stable and secure mount from Autotech, $99 IIRC.

Have fun. When I lived in Richmond, I was out there at VIR every few months. I've rode shotgun in everything from 930 Turbos and Ferrari 355 challenges to your vintage racers. I used to go out there in a friends Boxster S when the Porsche Club was out. Its one of the most beautiful race tracks around. Make sure you read the web site about the track and practice as much as possible by playing videogames with VIR in it. Its a tricky track. There are some blind turns, some hairy hairpins, and some fast straights. You'll definitely want steel brake lines and upgraded brakes. Its hard on your brakes and tires. I saw a Merc 600 Renntech roadster and a 911 turbo fry their brakes on the tracks. Pack a lunch to go, there is nothing around. Take a tour of G&R Racing while you are there and have fun! http://www.virclub.com/vir/
