Default TB change at 60K service?!?!

Hey all you Audi wizards...

The dealer is recommending changing the timing belt at 60K and I believe the manual recommends 90K on my 01 S8. Any recommendations? I'm not in a rush to drop $1600 for the early change, and I'm not sure that the dealer isn't just trying to get money sooner rather than later. What do you guys think?

Default Based on what TBs removed at 80-90K miles look like, I wouldn't....

worry about changing the TB until the Audi recommended service interval, unless you or the dealer has some specific information indicating that it has been damaged.

Default OK - anything recommended beyond the standard 60K service?

I thought as much, but always like confirmation. Any other recommendations for things that should be done at 60K?

Default Use the standard service guide. If you TRUST your mechanic ....

... have them change the transmission filter screen and refill with fresh fluid.

Have you had your brake fluid flushed within 2 years? No? Do that too.

I think the timing belt has a 6 years or 90K miles interval.

Default I have a 2000 A8 with just recently 51k miles and I got mine done at around 46k or so

It was probably unneccesary by the looks of the belt but what the heck itll be seven years old this year.

Just wait for the oil cooler to break, and change the TB then

It's even a little higher on the 40v's - 105k, not sure why but they bumped it up
