The procedure is very simple and I followed it to a "t". My factory coding was 00008 just as yours. The thing is I get no movement after I change it to 00007,6,5,4,3,2 and click "do it". Nothing after going through group 001 or 002 either. It does retain the code I select after group 002. The self leveling function works correctly because the lights find their home every time they are switched on.

Do you think I should try centering the vertical adjustment screws and try it again? In the past I have always adjusted them with the manual screws and VAG com. Also, the car is lowered but I don't think it is effecting anything.

Only with VAG-COM - not using the manual adjusters. If you've got the latest update (805.2, and I just got an auto update to 805.3 today), a box appears telling you what codes are for what platforms. Not all codes 00001 - 00010 are valid. Only a few single digit (0000?), and then they skip to 00020, 00030, etc... it's all in the pop up box.

I tried each code while watching what the beams do (go up or down & how much). My car faces the garage door and is less than a foot away so it's easy to see the hot spot move. Termina8r is right on with his guide and it works as described. Granted, I don't have a D2...
