Default Thanks to PaulW my gas mileage just took a hit...and I couldn't be happier!
For the whopping 15 minutes it takes to swap out the TCU and join the "S"quirt club the performance change is unbelievable.

Thanks a million PaulW for figuring this "mod" out...I can't seem to wipe the grin off my face!

Default I swapped out the TCU from my 01 //S8 for a TCU from an 02//S8...
It is amazing the performance difference it delivers...different shift points, precision down shifts, etc. - flat out amazing how much it changes the performance of the car.

They are harder to find than what one might like, but well worth the time/patience/money to acquire one.

...big thanks to Pioneer/Superman/Mod Mad Genius PaulW for figuring this minor miracle of car transformation out.

Sure glad my 02 came with this feature without the need to mod, make a HUGE difference. Love S mode!

I'm dying to do this myself. Mind if I ask where you got the '02 unit from? So far no luck at the salvage yards and $800+ from the stealer is a little too rich for my blood at the moment...

Default I started looking for one right after Paul posted his experience...
I ended up getting mine from a salvage yard in Ontario Canada delivered to my house in Washington for $190 Canadian...given the favorable currency exchange it brought the purchase down to roughly $155. Total screaming deal!!!

Greatly improves performance...gas mileage will not be as good, but the fun factor is 10x!
