Default Thanks for the TB Help...1 more ?

Thanks everyone who helped on the TB process. I got it all buttoned up and it is running smoothly. Special thanks to A8CT for talking me through some of the angst on start up. BTW, it's a pretty easy job overall...perhaps 1/3 of my time was spent at the local stealer getting the little parts, like wire retaining clips.

Now my last question...when I turn on the A/C system now I get a screeching sound that's pretty loud. Maybe compressor clutch? is this something that would happen from just sitting r perhaps from getting anti-freeze on it when doing the TB job? Annoying to get through the job only to have a new issue come up, but I guess that's the way it goes.

Cheers.

Bill

Default Welcome to the club!

We were just discussing this. PaulW has a procedure (of course). I'm going to give it a shot this weekend.

Link to the link

Default I'm almost tempted to come by tomorrow to have a look see

I was going to ask if you needed help, but you seemed to know exactly what you were doing!

BTW, I was out riding my bicycle.....

I do have time tomorrow to come out your way if you want. Let me know.

Come on down, Paul..., just a mile from the San Francisco Airport. Take your bike. I'm figuring you thought I was an East coaster?

Anyway, I'll give that plug a try. Just annoying that it would come up right after I finished the TB job, but I see no need for an afterrun heater pump if that's what it is.

Thanks for the feedback.

Default Re: Welcome to the club!

Tried disconnecting both of the electrical connectors near the after run coolant valves and no effect...so what's next?

My noise is more like bearings rattling than a belt squeal... hmmmm.

Thanks in advance

Default Problem solved!

Maybe it's just coincidence, but I decided to re-bleed the coolant system. When I did it the first time, it was facing down the driveway. I reoriented the car facing up the driveway, opened up the two coolant bleed valves at the back of the engine and let them burp out some coolant. Ran the car briefly and the noise went away.

So, all in all, the TB job went pretty smoothly. Right now, $600 all in, and that includes t-belt kit, cam seals, t-stat, accessory belt, tensioner damper, water pump, new front motor mount, pentosin fluid and tool rental. I have a few BTDT to add to A8CT's list, but overall his cheat sheet was very helpful.

Cheers.

Default It sounds like the after run pump was air bound

And once you bleed the system, you solved it....but you said you tried unplugging it and it still made the noise....do you think that was the problem?
