Got the G12 orange antifreeze today and topped up the car.

Audi changed from green to Pink/red antifreeze in 1997. Green could be the correct color for your

1996.

Red, pink, orange, yellow, green, gold, and blue anti-freeze ...

and the fact that I'm color-blind doesn't make this any easier!

Is the pink/red VAG G12 antifreeze compatible with other pink/red antifreeze? If they're silicate and phosphate free, maybe; but if you you do a search on "G12", you get hundreds of hits, including many horror stories.<ul><li><a href="http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/sub_care_sat/1272436.html">Popular Mechanics on Anti-freeze</a></li></ul>
