Default Those small unsafe side view mirrors.

Am I the only customer who feels those rediculously small sideview mirrors used on every A8 and S8 since inception in 1996 need to be seriously enlarged so as to be useful? I've owned both A8 & S8 and never felt comfortable while on any highway.....turning my head before passing or pulling over was a necessity to do so safely. These mirrors are not appropriate for a fast touring car. Perhaps they have been changed for this model year.

Default I've found them to be OK as long as you change one lane at a time.

The outside of the right mirror is a perfect indication of the right outer dimension of the car.

Mirror on pass side made bigger in mid '99 and 2000. European wideviews available.

Well, probably the passenger-side mirror used to be smaller because in Germany you're supposed to drive on the rightmost lane unless you're passing a slower car?
At least I think them sufficient for German Autobahns.

But Audi recognized that their cars are shipped to other countries, where the legal situation is quite different and so they changed the rear view mirrors together when they launched the facelifted D2.

Default I keep mine pointed out so I can't see the side of the car

And I've grown use to it. Works as well as any other car I've had...but it's got to be pointed way out, you can see the lane next to you no problem.

Default OMG! I never noticed that about the pre-00 models . . .

Kind of looks like Nemo! (From the Pixar movie. Sorry, Paul.)

Default I thought I was the only one in the world that did that.

I keep the side mirrors on the blind spot while I use the rear view for the rear view.
