Default Throttle kickdown button on S8 ???

What's the the story on the "kickdown" button under the throttle ... on a drive-by-wire system?? Other than providing resistance when going past about 85% throttle, does this thing actually do anything?

April, any idea?

Default It's wired to the transmission ECU

and not to anything else, according to the 2001 wiring diagram.

Default Re: I think it says "when in doubt, shift!" to the ECU!

Which is why I think you should try to jump it with a dash mounted switch when you want to be sporty...
