Default Tie Rod buying advice/ RECALL completed w/ new arms

My tie rods were fine during a recent alignment, but now one on my left side is making noise. I plan to go to EAS online, I hear it is a pricey part.

Dealer gave me new control arms on one side, I don't have the paperwork yet.

The tie rod ends themselves are pretty inexpensive, but a pain to put in, and pricey to have it done

Depends on how badly they're corroded in place. Up North, salt country, almost certainly a pain. Down here, might not be bad at all.

I did the TREs on the A6 myself, then hauled it in for an alignment Monday morning. Not bad at all. A little penetrating oil, and some time to marianade, and they came right off. And the A6/A8 are identical on parts on that one.

Default I've been lucky, I've done about 4 A8's and none of them have given me a problem. The control arms..

are a different story. I posted a few weeks ago about the uppers that I had to drill out. I would let everything soak overnight with penetrating oil and start the next morning. If you're doing tie rods AND control arms (I know your not) loosen everything first but don't disconnect ! It's hard to get leverage when everything is taken apart and flopping around.

My tie rods were ok on a recent alignment, they had no issues working on them as they had predicted...

I got new free control arms on 1 side.

Default Half the price of the stealership

I got the part for 70 and installed for 70. Tie rod end, now I need an alignment (60, not 150 like the stealer)
