Tie Rod and Other Front End Work
I had my car in recently and they recommended changing the tie rods. I am going to order the inner and outer and install this weekend.
I was thinking of replacing the control arms but was told the bushings will get the same results. I bought new CV boots as well. I am going to wait on the new Billsteins for another six months or so.
Any recommendations for this 97 with 102k miles? Should a new tie rod and control arm bushings take care of any front end vibrations? I know the Billsteins will help as well but I dont want to spend more than $500 at this time. This project could go to $1200 with the Billsteins. This is my second car so it does not have to be perfect.

You only need to replace the outer tie rods, not the inner. I would replace the entire lower...
control arm (straight) and take a good look at the curved lower control arm bushings. You can get the tie rod ends and lower control arm from Wendy (snolvr8@ms.com) for less than just about anyone. If you ever need to replace the steering rack (sooner or later you will) the inner tie rods come with it.
