Got a call from the dealer last night - the pocket battle ship is in port for refueling. It should be re-supplied and ready for search and destroy missions by this weekend.
It's an Ocean Blue A3 3.2 quattro DSG with 18" Wheels, Adaptive Bi-Xenons and Rear Side Airbags "stripper" - my fifth quattro in a row since 1984. Ordered it in early November.
If anyone is interested in wrestling the low miles (36k) fully optioned '01 S8 out of my hands check AutoTrader under 92614 zip code.
Thanks to those that replied to all my inquiries and to everybody else for providing interesting posts to read.

I was looking at a very cool looking A2 today -nice but not for me.
I still like the big car with lots of power.
Enjoy the new beast and look in on us now and then.
