Default Today I found another gasket material for my lifetime project.

The top one looks better but the bottom one is much thinner. What do you guys think?

It is like a very tough paper. The other is more like rubber.

The cork is definitely too thick and it can break a part easily.

Default Tozo, I asked in a diff post about thickness and you did not think it was a problem

Looking at the pic you posted of the pluming I agree, so what's the issue now with thickness? Is there a clearence problem or is it just the preasure you are worried about?

Sorry for all the questions, but your transmission is very intresting. Also I recently went though a couple of tranny replacements and was left wondering many things. Your problems and pics are starting to make sense out of my own problems.

Default I'm almost postitive it's a hydraulic bypass problem

It's something like 9 degrees F in Chicago yesterday....driving my car last night after it warms up (about 10 miles around town), the tranny is working perfectly, no hunting at 40-45 MPH at all! And it was in 5th gear.

I figure it has to due with the thermal transient across the two mating surfaces.....obviously when it was very cold out the two plates were not warped at all and maintainted an adequate fit.

Also, I am trying to pin point which hydraulic passageway that is causing the problem.....it's the one that controls 4th/5th gear or maybe one of the brakes that are used with 4th or 5th gear....the rest of the tranny works perfect. I will have to look at the solenoid table, the picture of the valves and tozo's picture of the back side of the valve body....

Default I will use the 1/64" Fel-pro karropak gasket tomorrow.

I have the valve body on the kitchen table and I am ready to make the gasket.
