So 3 days ago we had a snow storm in NY, well I managed to get stuck and burn down my 2001 Audi S8 Black/Black Alcantara
(Mike Plats car) What started the fire I belive is a short because I tore the front bumper of seconds earlier on the hardened snow under the car,as I steped out, noticed smoke comming out from the right front tire, first thought burned rubber second holy sh""" flames under th car. Called 911 by the time they put it out it was a done dea. Dash is trash, Engine (140k)I am 99% sure is good just most of the connections and/or wireing is messed up, seats are good besides the drivers one bottom side got a bit burned wherethe leather is. So I am looking to sell as is hopefully the whole car not by parts. If any one needs I will take pics tomorrow day time. Please make offers all will be considered best one takes it.

I've bought an 02' S8 two years ago with 45K miles on it. It had a fire damage. It started front of the driver's side front tire. The interior was flawless. I bought it for $2800 with 5 extra wheels.

Mike,
Mike Platt here. Sorry to hear of the loss of my old girl. I miss the car and it had every option you could get from audi. The Phatnoise and the weird voice dialects it spoke to me was fun and missed. I have moved on to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo to replace the S8 but my sons drive a 1993 S4 and a 2001.5 S4 avant. They are great cars and hope you pursue another.

Folks,
I am new to the forum and would appreciate any and all insight.
I am about to buy a 2001 Audi S8 (Ming Blue), pending final call from a mechanic referred to me by the seller.
The problem is I am in the far east and the car in the hands of its second owner has been kept up, but needs a lot of TLC to truly bring it back to life.
The car has been sitting in a garage and needs a complete servicing. The concern is service parts, including replacement parts availability here in Hong Kong.
One initial problem noticed is that Engine oil is mixed with water, which could be what?
Appreciate any comments around used parts availability and any key service / realiability items to focus on before purchase.
Cheers
