Default TozoM8, I have followed instructions and the folllowing was found...

1. Passenger's side axle: when turned and shaken you feel a small displacement and one time metal against metal noise
2. Driver's side axle: when turned and shaken you feel a much displacement. Several metal noise against metal. Like if some thing was loose. The mechanic says it is in side the front end not the axle. This explains the combination of noise and trilling I was feeling while driving the car. That front wheel feels like it making small jumps (high frequency) when running. On rough surfaces, the noise is very, very much amplified.
3. Questions:
a. Passenger's side axle: is the small displacement normal?
b. Driver's side: what went wrong?
c. What do I have to ask the dealer to do? The car is still having 1month warranty. Audi says that they would replace the whole thing. The Toyota dealer where I bought it told me to bring the car to them and they will fix it. They may give me a revised and or second hand gear box (transmission)!!???? Is it OK
d. This is the last month warranty, where do I have to pay attention for the Toyota dealer repair?

Default Used transmission on an A8 is a bad idea, but....

...if that's all you can get out of the Toyota dealer, then that's what it must be. I would push hard for a new one, but, after all, the one they're replacing has almost 100k on it, so it's definitely not a new unit. As long as it's tested and works well, there's not much more you can do. This is the game that we play with used cars that no longer have factory warranty.

If you plan to keep this car, prepare yourself for other issues to pop up. These cars are not for people who like to have a car they can drive without maintenance or repairs.

Default No Used Tranny -- have used tranny rebuilt yourself if necessary

I'd never let anyone put a used tranny for an A8 in my car. You'll be for all intents and purposes right back where you started.

Have them cover the cost of rebuilding at a local tranny shop. Get new output seals too.

Default There is nothing wrong with your transmission. The front differential is gone.

They can replace the differential, bearings and maybe the driver's side output flange. It is a long shaft.
