Trailer Hitch on 1997 A8
I had a trailer hitch on my 1990 V8 that was great for holding my bike rack safely behind the car. Also handy for jockying my twin antique Chris Craft runabouts around the yard.
I saw in the archives warnings about dissimilar metals but never found if anyone ever had or saw a trailer hitch on an A8. I can't imagine where it would fasten to the frame but if it is possible I'd love to have one. I hate bikeracks that strap to the trunk or sit on the roof.

If you have a brand new model of vehicle, the data for your hitch may not yet be entered. Please email newveh@hitch-web.com and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Maybe they have developed a good steel to aluminum weld technique.......NOT! LOL!
We developed a steel/aluminum weld technique many years ago- it involves explosives!!!! (Really- it's called explosive welding and uses super high pressure to bond the material rather than heat/melting!) However I don't think that technique would be advisable on an automobile, particularily right next to the gas tank!

there is a trailer hitch on my s8, it is a "plug-in" type which, due ot the vertical location of the plug, is completely invisible from behind the car when unplugged. the hitch stows in the spare wheel well. nicely designed and allows the boot to open while carrying a bike on a carrier.
it is not listed in the parts catalogue that i can find which would indicate that it is not an oem part. i'll have a look on my car later to try and find some part number.
