Tranny question...
If I feel a "neutral-ing out" sensation, ie. it goes to shift from say 3-4 and instead of a quick shift and then drop of rpm, it seems to hang and sometimes rev up as much as 1000rpm and then slap into the next gear...is this a symptom of low fluid level? My father in law, a long time mechanic said he thought it felt like the tranny was "neutral-ing out" or sticking in Neutral and shifting. Im still getting this even with PaulWs new TCU (I promise i didnt forget you Paul). Any thoughts? It was just rebuilt a little over 1yr ago. Could it also have something to do with a worn driveshaft or maybe low differential fluid? Please help...I am sending her into the shop wed. to diagnosis this.

Re: Tranny question...
Just for the record, I don't think that many if ANY of the transmission problems that are characteristic of the A8 are directly related to the TCU. Even after I had a full rebuild done, my old TCU still functions proper.
What it sounds like to me is that your torque converter is locking and unlocking. Something that happened to me before I had it replaced.
This is just a guess, but unless you had a rebuild which also included replacing your TC, it might be time.
Any one else?
