Default tranny saga continues.... (go figure)

So as many know, i had my tranny fail in my 98 at 86k miles. Well I had it rebuilt last June and have had some strange shifting patterns, etc over the past year. After 4 times back to the tranny shop, a day off work and a trip round town with the tranny tech, they finally saw what i was talking about. First they thought it was the solenoids in the Valve Body but they replaced them and still had issues...they think the VB might be cracked and is causing issues once warmed up...when cold it shifts GREAT and under heavier throttle its ok but under light, round town throttle it tends to surge going from 3-4 or 4-5. They are ordering another remanned VB for tomorrow. Is there anything I should have them look at while its out? TOZO, PAUL, etc? what are your thoughts?

would a later model VB be better to put in it? (ie. 2000-03)? or would another updated VB be fine?
