Transmission code for S8

I've read with interest the threads on this forum regarding changing the transmission code, particularly since that was my primary complaint with my 1999 A8, and it looks like all my complaints (Tip would shift itself out of first and the upshifts were to soon and downshifts too slow) would have been handled by changing the code to 00032.
But I just bought a new 2001 S8 (it was a leftover). It's geared right (unlike the A8) and it lets you control the 1-2 shift in Tip mode, and it actually shifts pretty aggressively. However I bought the VAG-COM package so I could tweak it just in case there's a better setting, so naturally I want to try it. The factor setting is 00102, not 00002. Does anyone have any experience with changing this?
While I'm asking questions, the steering wheel controls on the S8 are for the Tiptronic transmission. I would much rather have them control the radio, using one to select the volume and the other to go up and down between station presets. Does anyone know of anything that can be done there?
Thanks for any help
Barry

Your car is coded 00012 from the factory. This is "sport mode". If you code it to 00022, this will remove the sport mode and it will hold first gear until redline regardless of throttle position. If you code it to 00032, it will do both sport mode and the 1st gear hold regardless of throttle position.
I found this on the A6 forum, actually, if you go here to Stony's page, I think I found a link to it there.
Here's a link to the recode page.

The TIP buttons are pretty simple, wired in parallel with the shifter TIP switch. The multi-function steering wheel has a control module that interfaces with the radio. That interface may be a little more complicated.
Probably much easier to get the multifunction wheel...
