Transmission / Cruise Control Question - 1998 A8
My friend won't sell me his A8 unitl he resolves this problem and the dealer (in Grand Rapids MI) has not been much help. The car is a 1998 with 135,000 miles on it. He describes the problem as follows:
When cresting a hill at 60 mph with the cruise on, there is a "clunk" and the RPM's drop to about 1100, then the car goes merrily on it's way. It happened very sporatically at first, now more frequently.
Any ideas out ther or follow-up questions I should ask to further define the problem?

Sounds like the issue we are all working on.
This is related to the "hunting" that we all experience. As far as a resolution to this you the least expensive fix would be to change the tranny fluid/filter. this may solve the problem.. check out audipages.com
