you dont want to do a $150 service to potentially last another 6 months to a year??
if its leaking, it could have been for months and you have now slowly leaked out enough to cause problems from improper lubrication.
get the kit, trim the filter, do the fluids...

I've got the car parked in the garage now so that it is ready to be worked on, I may drain and pop off the pan and see how much fluid is left, if any other than inside the transmission. After I found the large puddle of oil outside today. It was almost impossible to engage in any gears now so the car is not going anywhere anytime soon

Ok so when I moved my car into the garage I noticed these symptoms:
1) Car goes into limp mode now on first gear, but I have to accelerate to about 1000 rpms to kick into it and wont budge until it hits limp mode
2) Drained fluid, actually had a decent amount, I don't have a great estimate off hand but it was definitely almost dark dark brown and had odor, not sure if they always have an odor.
3) Ran VAGCOM after draining was done, found a new fault code on top of the Improper 3rd gear ratio: 17114 - Incorrect Gear Ratio
P0730 - 35-00 - -
As 01-S8 suggested I finally gave ordered the kit off of blauparts but have low hopes of it doing anything. I think the Clutch A basket is toast.

I think that's a 5 qt drain pan, it's all that came out + I spilled a tad. Very black and quite a bit of metal shavings.

I just wanted to know if you have any input on the 2000 Audi A8L Quadttro Transmission. I installed the other transmission and I have the same problem. There is nothing wrong with the tranny I installed it came from a working car Is there a fuse, or relay that I can check. I have both TCM's and tried both.
When I put my car in gear it does nothing, will not move, and I see the gear indicator changes from gear to gear. However when I mash the gas pedal, the car goes into limp mode and all transmission shift indicators for each gear lights up and the computer says it is a code 0730 for gear ratio

Don't know if this means anything, I have changed the fluid, filter, and gasket. Still no luck, i've been looking for a new car ever since!

Would like to add to my last post: When changing the tranny fluid, I only added 5 qts that came with the kit, the article says it requires 7. Do i need to buy 2 more? same or can I mix?

hmm, new filter about 8qts of fluid and gasket did nothing, looks like im scrapping the car, with the other maintenence totaling around 1.5k and was quoted for 4.5k I don't find any sense in fixing the car, unless I can find a buyer within a couple of weeks it will have to be farewell to my D2
