Thank you guys for your help.
I took my car to the audi dealer because it needed a new fuel pump so that ended up costing me $2000.00 and than right when I got the car back it flooded and when they looked at it they said the water got into the box where the tran module is and they could not save it. They said it would cost another $2000.00 to get that fixed but I found one at a used german auto parts place for $150 so tried that and now the dealer is saying it might be the transmission that is messed up.

Have you guys heard of this? if it was the actual transmission why did they not catch that when they were doing all the diagnostics on it before they put the $2000.00 fuel pump in it?
The car runs but is stuck in like 2nd gear.

Any of you guys have thoughts about that?
Thank you

I've heard of electronics boxes (w/ tcm & ecm) getting wet inside from clogged rain drains (leaves, etc) in the fresh air plenum. Flood water would have to be over the car doors to reach that box, otherwise. Haven't heard of trans itself getting water damage...guess it depends on how deep...Tozo would know that one.

Is trans in "limp mode"...all gears lit up at once?

P.S. The entire fuel pump assembly (usually not necessary) retails for $890...or $700 online. Actual pump alone can be had for a little over $200.

Take the car out of there before they suck you dry. take the TCU out, pull it apart and dry it with a hair drier. It it doesn't work then buy one on ebay or from the guys who part out A8 here. 97'-99' are the same.
