Default Transmission Repair

I am looking for a transmission specialist for my 97A8 93000 mis. Whining and bump from 1 to 2nd gear this winter. Replaced tranny fluid and filter according to posts in audiworld, and cleaned electrical connections. Continued hesitation, surge in gear shift and one episode of not engaging. I live in Dubuque, Ia willing to drive to chicago madison or minneapolis.

Default I'm in Des Moines

but sorry to say I don't know of anyone near here that I would recommend. I understand from some previous posts there are some excellent independant shops in the Chicago area.

Maybe do a forum search for "transmission repair" in the D2 forum or "independant" and see what comes up from prior posts.

Good luck. Please keep us all posted. Seems the 97's are experiencing the most tranny troubles. My 99 has been great so far (knocking on wood) at 59,000 miles.

be sure to recode to sport. I did this last night and felt an immediate improvement in behavior . There wasn't anthing bad happening , just more goodness. Maybe your situation will improve. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing it.
