That is very interesting. Thank you very much for the help! If this is the problem, these teflon seals should have been replaced when the transmission was rebuilt, shouldn't they? I have a one year warranty on the transmission. Here is the link to the pictures of the rebuild:

Could it be anything else?
If I had any idea how easy the A8 was to tow, I would have driven the 800 miles to Chicago and had you rebuild it. would have cost only the $129 for the one-way trailer rental.

All seals should be replaced. We always visually inspect the surface where the seal goes.
If it is scored, it will ruin the new seal too. I've paid $50 for the trailer (24hrs rental).
