Default Trunk Release Button Fail

Hey all. The button on the inside of the driver's side door no longer triggers the trunk release. It did up until a week ago. I had this button replaced about 2 months ago, and it worked fine until now. The key still releases the trunk, as well as the trunk button on the remote. Any thoughts?

Have you locked your glove box? - just a guess

Default I thought there was a problem with my button...

Turns out it was actually an issue with the central locking system not creating sufficient pressure to "unlock" the trunk.

The other trunk "release methods" still working perfectly was what threw me off from suspecting anything central locking related.

When you use the key fob, it doesn't matter what lock position the trunk is in.

It's important to note that turning the key in the trunk's lock cylinder didn't seem to "unlock" the part affected by the central locking system, as my switch never seemed to work until I resolved the problem with the vaccuum line.

Dumb question: Your glove box isn't locked, right?

I know, I'm sorry ;-), but I fell victim to that once. I thought it had stopped working again and didn't even think to check.

Default Booyah!

That did it! Not sure why I want that feature, but I guess it has it. I never lock the glove box, but I remember I tossed a drunk friends keys in there and locked it like 2 weekends ago because he was trying to drive. I totally forgot about it, and his keys were still in there. That raises more questions now of why he hasn't even called me about them. Odd!

Anywho, thanks for the help!

Default That feature exists in order to prevent Valet people from ganking your stuff. Assuming...

You first perform a "manual" lock of the trunk lid by turning the (master) key 90 degrees CW. This prevents access by means of pushing in the lock cylinder release.

Then after you lock the glove box, the joor jamb button no longer functions.

So, assuming you remember to bring the Valet key, he/she won't be able to investigate the contents of your trunk!
