Greetings!
Where can I purchase a TV tuner for the 2004 A8? Is this an item available here, or will I need to get one from Europe?
Please advise....

Miami, TV tuners are available here at any mid to high end electonics store. The problem is that once the car is in motion, the reception is not that great. Some European manufacturers are playing with small satellite dishes to replace the antennas and youll probably see them here before the end of the year. A satellite dish on an A8? Yikes!

I don't think an Alpine or Pioneer TV tuner will interface with the 2004 A8.
I saw the TV-tuner button on the controller, so I figured that the Euro A8's probably had them.
Has anyone ever done this?
I think that in order to make this work, the factory tv tuner needs to be used.
Who is working on those Sat. Dishes? Have any brands or links? It wouldn't be for an A8, but on the H1, it wouldn't look bad.
Best, MC

Miami, I looked into the TV tuner and with an RF switch plus tuning the radio to 87.9, you`re in business with the Alpine setup. I am having a DVD system put in my `04 this weekend and I will explore the TV end of things for you.

What kind of DVD system are you going to run?
Take a look at www.nav-tv.com
I think the glove box will hold a single disc DVD player....ICON-TV has a real nice mini-compact DVD player.
Also, you can use a portable DVD player from Pioneer or Panasonic...I like this option because most of them have optical outputs and you can tosslink from the DVD unit into your audio hook up and get digital sound...

Its an Alpine system and the screens are placed in the headrests while the head unit will be under one seat. I am trying to figure out how to mount the unit in the rear center armrest.

However it has been disabled due to FCC regulations. Maybe someone can find a tech guy to re-enable it.
BTW, 3,000 miles and still going strong.
