Default Two S8 Questions; MAf and brake calipers

1. Is the mass-airflow sensor covered by the longer Audi emissions warranty? If so, how long in time/miles is the emissions warranty on a 2001 S8?

2. My Brembo calipers are shot looking. Does anyone know where they can be sent (mail-ordr I assume) for powder-coating or high-temp paint, maybe with Audi logos? I am not a DIY'er, sorry!

Thanks.

Bruce

It is covered by 84 months/70,000 miles whichever comes first.

Emission related parts should get 80K miles coverage.

Turns out that most emissions is 2/24; only cat, ECU, and OBDII are 8/80 coverage

Default Why don't you have the dealer's recommended repair facility...

...paint your calipers? Since you're not a DIY person, the cost of having someone remove, mail, paint, and reinstall it's probably much higher than having a trusted repair/paint facility just take them off and paint them for you. That's what I'll do when I take the car in for a re-spraying of the front right fender (some paint oxidation or discoloration in a small area on the wheel arch).

Makes sense, thanks. But not sure they will powder coat, which is what I prefer.

Default You'll want to get them powder coated to withstand the heat generated.

I had them done on my wife's A6 and it worked great. Wasn't expensive.

Default B, I was going to yank mine (er CALIPERS) and do the same - the clear is all gone on mine as well.

But then I lost my spare car this winter and I've since benched the thought.

I figure finding a local powder coater is the only way to go though, otherwise shipping is going to like double the bill I'd bet. Newbie /?S8'er Mikey Platt did do some UrS bit PC'ing for me before, but again, the shipping issue on these heavy suckahs - he's NH.

Edweirdo did score some kewl Brembo hi-temp decals in white, those would do the trick certainly - speaking of - hey EDWEIRDO, didn't you say you were going to send me a set for hookin you up wit dat radio code you HOOR???

Let me know what you end up doing for when I eventually get to them. If local / quick enough I can plan with the weather to use the TR3 during the downtime.

Thinking red cause yeah I'm cool. Silver would just get too dirty too quick.

Default Found powder-coat place in upstate NY

Will do Brembos for $125 each (clean, degrease, prep, powder, seal). Seems pricey to me...then they may need new dust boots and stuff, so could go higher.

Will do standard colors, matching car color or other exotic color is more.

Shipping is too much? That's because you use UPS.
