I had Gabor's modified VB installed a couple weeks ago in hopes of curing the hunting and thumping in my '97 A8.

I am happy to report that, like the others, my hunting and thumping is cured!

Gabor's modification does the trick. Freeway driving is fun once again.

how is the around town driving? are the shifts at low speed still rough or are they smoothed out?

The around town didn't change much - I still have the hesitancy when accelerating lightly between 30-40mph that was always there. But I was getting some hunting below 30 before Gabor's modified VB and that is also cured.
