So on the way home last night I stopped to get a few barley pops on the way home from school. When I pulled in to the parking lot and shifted to P the car was idling at about 1400 rpm. It also did it about 2 nights ago when I got home from school but was fine the next day.
I pulled the codes last night but need to get VAG-COM reregistered on my new laptop, I got code 17915, a quick search says P1507(DTC 17915) code (Idle sys. learned value lower limit attained)
So I didn't have time to mess with it today, but when I went to leave for school this morning the car wouldn't run. It will start up rev a little high then die.
So what do you guys think I should look at first? Take off and clean out the ISV?
I also have a little crack on the breather hose that connects to the intake just in front of the throttle body, didn't know if that could be part of the problem also. That sucker split the first time I put it on when I did all the hoses 2 years ago like it was cast to small. Seems to be getting worse.
Any BTDTs lately that can make my quest shorter tomorrow AM when I have the time to work on it?
Also it got a lot cooler around here in the last 2-3 nights.
Thanks
Britt

If that is low, then you may have an issue with the fuel pumps. Yes pumps, there are 2, one in each tank. One is a lifter pump that pumps the one tank into the other tank. The line between the tanks can decompose over time leaving you with a half of tank of fuel, but you are completely empty in the main tank.

work on that, but I just filled up and have over 3/4s of a tank, and that doesn't explain the recent high idle either or the CEL.

split. Any air leak after the MAF will make everything else go crazy. The car will run funny and idle high. It'll even die and not start if the leak is big enough. Being that its colder out now the rubber gets harder and cannot seal the crack as good.
I'd get some black silicone and goop it all over the crack/split as a temp fix. Use a lot! Make sure you let it dry for a while. You don't wanna suck that stuff in to the engine! If it runs fine, then buy a new rubber piece!
Good luck and let us know what happens!

You replaced that hose not too long ago, no? I remember seeing the pics from when you replaced it, which inspired me to do mine. It's too bad it broke so soon. :-(

I understand not to use any kind of spray silicone (or liquid as a lubricant) around the intake system, but how will a big glob of Black (to match the hose) Silicone RTV that's completely hardened cause a problem? Oh yea, that cracked hose is made of silicone too!
And Holy Crap BatMan, $6.50 for a tube of RTV! I guess its been a while since I've purchased any. I really thought I was seeing things at first! Glad gas was only $2.29 to fill up the womans car tonight!
